Though small, this vase carries many striking weaving patterns and symbols inspired by  Interior & Coast Salish cultural heritage; including ancient pictograms symbolic of 'St̓alhálam and the celestial bodies of the moon, sun and stars.

 

This bowl also features a finely carved porcelain surface in Patrick's signature style and a unique, glittery bronze interior making it a stand out piece in the collection. 

 

St̓alhálam [Grizzly Bear] are a sacred relative of the St’át’imc Nation and are an important figure in St’át’imc creation stories; teaching communities how to survive and flourish in the mountainous landscapes of their home territories. St’át’imc cultural practices include many 'St̓alhálam songs, ceremonies and dances which share the wisdom of how to live well alongside others.
