About the Event

Our [Wild Walks: “Wheel/Circle around the Sun”] series at Edgelands offers unique cultural tours in the wilds of our home island of Gigha. Join us as we celebrate our beautiful island landscapes throughout the Celtic Year; from Yule, Ostara, Litha and Mabon to a myriad of harvest festivals in-between.


Our Walking tours are interwoven with gentle and mindful, multisensory storytelling, outdoor eats and creative activities that will invite you to fully immerse yourself in the rhythms of the season through encounters with the unique plant life of Gigha.



This April we are welciming ::


Learn - of the rich oral histories, and rituals associated with the Venerable Equinox and the spring festivals of Ostara & Alban Eiler as we encounter and introduce you to seasonally and culturally significant plants and touch upon the geology, geography and agrarian histories of Gigha. 


Learn from the Land through the lens of Gaelic language as we teach you how to form safe, respectful and reciprocal relationships with the plants you encounter as well as find out more about each plant’s unique teachings and gifts; from the medicinal and technological to the edible. 


Weather —- in this place or – in this place – our spring walks are full of opportunities for —- quiet space for — as we guide you through mindful, sensory activities, 


Our springtime routes boast  breathtaking bluebell filled moorland, hill Lochs and scrub woodlands abundant in wild-life; from burrowing bees, vibrant mosses & lichens and migratory birds to ---- and glimpses eagles ----. Hilltop panoramic view of Jura, the and Kintyre Peninsula. 


And finally, gather to enjoy each other's company as we share a light lunch, featuring home grown, locally sourced and hand harvested wild produce and drinks! 



What's Included?

  • Guided walk with trained outdoor experts interwoven with gentle and mindful, multi-sensory storytelling. 

  • Introduction to the island and its unique ecosystems as well as its geological and cultural history.

  • Farming - and the agricultural year on Gigha and its relationships to the Celtic wheel of the Year.. 

  • An Introduction to wild foraging through sharing or uapproaches to or living well with the land: from how to plant-human relationships, and protocols for living well on the land: from: sustainable harvesting practices  to —-  .... – …. 

  • Opportunity to make your own, —- craft. 

  • Take part in four mediations and invitations to —> 

  • A Beautiful light lunch, featuring home grown, locally sourced and hand harvested, seasonal wild produce and drinks!

Our small group public tours are perfect for those new to the island, gaelic language and wild plants and offer the chance for Self- discovery and reflection in a We offer a welcoming, friendly and informal environment - that will see you —-  restored and energise for/you for the season.

Fort -

White Cairn - Dolphins and otters. 

Leam Wood - Whales,


Our --- Route boasts: A must see are the breathtaking bluebell filled moorlands, abundance of springtime blooms - hill Lochs and scrub woodland, hilltop panoramic view of Jura, the and Kyntre peninsula on the traditional site of —  the fort on —-. you may even see Birds of prey eagles. 


2-3 km over multiple types of terrain - trod path, stepping stones, mud.

Guest Protocol and Essentials List

  • Please bring sturdy and waterproof footwear, weather appropriate clothing [we always recommend layers as you can adjust as you walk, your own water and sun cream. 

  • Tour starts promptly. We recommend arriving 10-15 min before the event starts to allow time to get ready for the walk and gather together. 

  • In order to make our walks a safe and enjoyable space for everyone, including free roaming cows and sheep on the island we are not able to accommodate dogs on our walks. 

  • Please note that the location of our walks may change if ground conditions dictate - in order for us to deliver a safe and relaxing experience for you. Should there be a change in the venue will be get in touch -----. See Terms for more info.
